Delicate Apple Rose Pastry Blooms

  • Total Time: PT45M
  • Yield: 4 1x

Description

A stunning and elegant dessert that resembles blooming roses, made with flaky pastry and tender apple slices, perfect for spring and Easter celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (about 250g)
  • 2 large apples (about 300g each)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp apricot jam (optional, for glazing)
  • 1 tbsp water (for glaze, optional)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into 4 equal rectangles.
  2. Step 2: Core and thinly slice the apples into about 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick slices. Toss the apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon.
  3. Step 3: Place the pastry rectangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Arrange the apple slices along the short edge of each rectangle, overlapping slightly, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) border.
  4. Step 4: Fold the bottom edge of the pastry over the apple slices, then carefully roll the pastry and apple slices from one end to the other to form a rose shape, with the apple slices fanning out like petals.
  5. Step 5: Place each rolled pastry into a muffin tin cavity or on the baking sheet, shaping gently if needed. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the pastry is golden and the apples are tender.
  6. Step 6: Optional: Warm the apricot jam with water to create a glaze. Brush the warm glaze over the baked pastries for a shiny finish.

Notes

Ensure apple slices are thin enough to roll easily and become tender during baking. You can add a sprinkle of powdered sugar before serving for extra sweetness.
